The Pentagon released the name today of a 22-year-old Camp Pendleton-based Marine killed by an improvised explosive device this week in Afghanistan.

Explosives testing scheduled at Pendleton

CAMP PENDLETON — Live-fire training at Camp Pendleton is scheduled from 6 a.m. to midnight today.
The live-fire training will continue during the same hours Monday,Wednesday and Thursday, according to the base’s public affairs office.
Each day, about 1,750 pounds of high explosives will be detonated, and the explosions may be heard across the region.
