Mexican meth kingpin gets 17 1/2 years

A leader of a Mexican methamphetamine trafficking organization was sentenced today in San Diego to 17 1/2 years in federal prison.
Andres Chavez-Chavez pleaded guilty on June 17, 2008, to participating in a conspiracy to distribute 220 pounds of methamphetamine in the San Diego area in 2006 and 2007.
