GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Prosecutors say they have a taped confession from one of the six people accused of torturing and killing a mentally disabled western Pennsylvania woman.

In this undated composite photo provided by the Westmoreland County Prision, Robert Loren Masters Jr., top left, Peggy Darlene Miller, Ricky Smyrnes, Angela Marinucci, bottom left, Melvin Knight, and Amber Meidinger, are shown. The six suspects were charged Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 with criminal homicide, kidnapping and related charges in the death of 30-year-old Jennifer Daugherty, whose body was found Thursday at Greensburg Salem Middle School, about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh. Westmoreland County prosecutors played the tape of 20-year-old Melvin Knight’s statement to police during a preliminary hearing Thursday morning.
Knight says on the tape that he forced 30-year-old Jennifer Daugherty to drink urine before stabbing her at the urging of another suspect.
Investigators say the group also forced Daugherty to drink detergent and write a suicide note before killing her and dumping her body in a school parking lot last month in Greensburg, about 30 miles outside of Pittsburgh.
A county judge is deciding whether to hold the group for trial on charges including criminal homicide and kidnapping.

When i read this article i couldnt believe what i was reading. There is absolutely no excuse for the way that the people responsible took advantage of this poor person not only, in terms of numbers but also mental capacity. It sickens me to consider these people as human and for civilization to grant them rights, when in their direct actions, they treat others like animals. I have never believed in the reasons behind corporal punishment, but this article strongly makes me think twice about the benefits of it.
