Name of fatally shot man released
LINCOLN ACRES – Authorities Monday released the name of a man who was fatally shot during a weekend fight at a home in Lincoln Acres.
Leonel Lonnie Flores III, 37, and an unidentified companion showed up unannounced at a house in the 2600 block of Grove Street shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, according to San Diego County sheriff’s Lt. Dennis Brugos and the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The two then became involved in a “violent confrontation” with the residents, Brugos said.
One of the residents, John Paul Ratliff, pulled a gun and shot Flores, who died about an hour later at UCSD Medical Center, Brugos said.
The companion left before emergency crews arrived at the scene and has not been positively identified, according to the lieutenant.
Brugos did not say whether Ratliff, 61, was arrested.
