Black Friday shopping traffic could hit a traffic snarl after a body was found along the side of state Route 163 Friday morning, near Interstate 8, authorities said.

The body appeared to be that of a pedestrian, said California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Ray Scheidnes. It was found on southbound 163, just north of I-8, by a passing motorist who called 911 at 5:25 a.m.

The caller said it looked like a man but Scheidnes said he could not immediately confirm that report.

The Hotel Circle offramp from southbound 163 was closed, as was the westbound I-8 transition ramp from southbound 163. The CHP recommended that Black Friday shoppers trying to access Fashion Valley and Mission Valley malls take Friars Road.
