Earthquake hits Big Bear Lake region

Seismologists from the U.S. Geological Survey placed the epicenter about seven miles north of Big Bear City.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.7 struck the Big Bear Lake region at 7:55 a.m. today, and it was followed by a sharp aftershock two minutes later.

Seismologists from the U.S. Geological Survey placed the epicenter about seven miles north of Big Bear City, and 80 miles east of the Los Angeles Civic Center.

The same area was rocked by a 2.4 magnitude aftershock two-and-a-half minutes later.
