Police suspect gang violence in shooting
Saturday, November 7, 2009
A 27-year-old man was shot in the back outside a Chula Vista bar just before closing time Saturday, but witnesses were drunk and uncooperative, police said.
Police are still looking for the male suspect, believed to be a gang member, said Chula Vista police Lt. Scott Arsenault. Due to conflicting witness reports, police do not have a clear description of the suspect, he said.
“The majority of the witnesses were uncooperative and intoxicated and seem unable to remember what happened,” Arsenault said.
The shooting at On the Rocks Cocktails at 656 E St. was reported around 12:45 a.m. today, according to Arsenault.
The incident began when the victim left the bar, and the suspect appeared to sneak up behind him and fired from a distance of three to four feet away, Arsenault said. The suspect ran away.
The victim sustained one gun shot wound in the middle of his back and was transported to UCSD Hospital, according to the lieutenant.

I am a 50 year old man, successful business in San Diego. I know this young man and his family for over 15 years and this is a great young man. He didn’t deserve to be attacked like this from a coward from behind. Most likely because of jealousy. Nice viehicle nicely dressed, a man that can say no , and turn away from trouble. I pray for his mother and family. For they are proud of him for being a great man. Godbless.

These type of attacks are sad. I see the VCV gangs hanging out all the time. You can probably find the man or somone around G Street and near Chula Vista High School. Many VCV gang members live in close vicinity. My understanding is they have facebook accounts and myspace.com with pictures. I hope for the best with the victim. Chula Vista Police, Sgt. Powers, Gang Suppression, please get them. Make gangs illegal in Chula Vista, through injunctions.
