Supervisor Stone will help provide seniors with flu shots Nov. 9 in Sun City
Stone will work alongside public health nurses to provide vaccinations at the Kay Ceniceros Senior Center.
Third District Supervisor Jeff Stone will provide flu shots for seniors in the Sun City area on Nov. 9, according to Riverside County Spokeswoman Lys Mendez.
Stone will work alongside public health nurses to provide vaccinations at the Kay Ceniceros Senior Center, 29995 Evans Road in Sun City, Mendez said in a news release. The flu shots will be offered from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. or until supplies last.
“Getting vaccinated is one of the most effective ways seniors can protect their health,” said Stone, who is also a pharmacist, in a written statement. “I will assist our public health officials in getting as many people vaccinated as possible.”
Residents also are encouraged to contact their individual medical providers for vaccinations, Mendez said. The seasonal flu shot does not protect against the H1N1 virus. Both the seasonal and H1N1 flu vaccinations are recommended.
The seasonal flu shot is recommended for all residents, but priority will be given to the following groups:
–People 50 years of age and older
–Children aged 6 months up to 18 years
–Pregnant women
–People of any age with chronic medical conditions
–People who live in nursing homes and other long-term facilities
–Home caregivers and health care workers caring for high risk individuals
