A fire at a Moreno Valley home today displaced seven people, three of them children, and killed a family dog but was contained to one room and part of the attic.

The blaze at 25604 San Lupe Ave. was reported at 6:47 a.m., according to Cal Fire’s Jody Hagemann.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the rear of the 1,900- square-foot home and managed to contain it to the one room, which was gutted.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

The American Red Cross was assisting the residents in finding temporary housing and with other needs, Hagemann said.
