First annual San Diego Beer Week takes over taps countywide
Monday, November 2, 2009

The series of over 100 events is put together by the San Diego Brewers Guild, which represents the local breweries throughout San Diego County.
A mere seven days cannot contain San Diego’s beer scene. So expect 10 days of special beer events, classes, festivals and BBQ from Nov. 6 to 15 as part of the first annual San Diego Beer Week.
The series of over 100 events is put together by the San Diego Brewers Guild, which represents the local breweries throughout San Diego County.
“San Diego Beer Week is a 10-day event showcasing the amazing craft beer we have in this city,” said Colby Chandler, San Diego Brewers Guild president. “We are encouraging breweries to push the envelope and create events with places not typically associated with craft beer. We know we’ll have support from beer enthusiasts, but we want to reach people who might not know about San Diego’s craft beer scene.”
Beer Week is built around the San Diego Brewers Guild Festival 2009, held at the World Beat Center in Balboa Park. The guild has been putting on the beer festival for the past five years, showcasing the best beer from local brewers.
As San Diego’s beer scene has grown, so has the profile of local beer and breweries. So Chandler and the brewer’s guild decided to expand this year to include more events throughout the community, giving beer lovers and casual drinkers wide array of venues and bars to experience.
