Gas prices fall in county

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County fell back under $3 Monday, dropping seven-tenths of a cent to $2.998.

Despite the decrease, the average price is a half-cent more than a week ago and $1.14 higher than at the start of the year, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The average price had been more than $3 for each of the previous four days.

“This is the time of year that lower demand should really start affecting the price of gas,” said Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California. “It looks like that may finally be the case in the rest of the country, and so hopefully California will follow suit.”

I was intrigued by the headline — where do you see lower prices, exactly? Am I buying gas in the wrong places?
