Violent Chula Vista parolee sought
A parolee with a history of domestic violence allegedly forced his way into his estranged wife’s apartment today in Chula Vista, threatened to kill her and fled, a police lieutenant said.
Victor Mendoza, who is in his early 40s, allegedly went to the woman’s apartment at 1415 Melrose Ave. around 12:15 p.m., and when she wouldn’t let him in, he broke in through a window, grabbed a kitchen knife and threatened her, said Chula Vista police Lt. Eric Thunberg.
He apparently fled out a back window when he heard police sirens, and a search of nearby canyons was fruitless, Thunberg said.
The woman and her son were unhurt, he said. Mendoza is 6 feet and 215 pounds and was last seen wearing a white button-down shirt and denim shorts, according to Thunberg.
