RB’s Veterans’ Day celebration planned
The Rancho Bernardo Veterans Memorial Association (RBVMA) will conduct a patriotic celebration at the Veterans Memorial at Webb Park in Rancho Bernardo on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11th. The 11:00 AM ceremony will be preceded by a Patriotic Musical Prelude by the Third Marine Air Wing Band, MCAS Miramar at 10:30 AM. RBVMA is sponsored by The General J.P. Holland Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 7766. The ceremony includes the Invocation by LCDR Israel Narvaez ChC, USN (Ret The Pledge of Allegiance Major Abe Baum, DSC, AUS (Fmr) Founder and Past President, RBVMA, The National Anthem performed by the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band, the posting of Service Flags by members of the MOWW and VFW accompanied by the appropriate service’s song and an address by Vice Admiral John M. Nyquist, US Navy (Retired). The Color Guard for this event will be provided by the 4th Tank Battalion, United States Marine Corps Reserve, with headquarters at MCAS Miramar. Members of Boy Scouts of America, Troop 685 will provide support for the day’s activities and distribute programs to attendees.
The Veterans Memorial was dedicated on July 4, 1994. The RBVMA has conducted patriotic celebrations at the site each year since then on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day.
The Veterans Memorial Site is located behind the Pearl Restaurant at the end of Avena Place on the east side of Webb Lake just south of the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel.
Attendees should bring chairs to enjoy the program from the lakefront lawn adjoining the Memorial.
