More than 150 BMW Z-series owners will roll into downtown Riverside today for an annual rally that brings together lovers of the sports cars.
The 2nd annual event, sponsored by BMW Southern California Car Club of America, is set to get under way around 11 a.m. on Orange Street, between University Avenue and Tenth Street.
Vendors who cater to Z-series owners will be on hand, including automobile sales reps, for the 12-hour rally, according to organizers.
Trophies will be awarded for cars sporting the most exotic appearance or unique features, organizers said.
”It’s the camaraderie and networking with the people that make the event,” said Robert Bartel, the car club’s Inland Empire representative.
The Z3 came out in 1996, shortly after being feature in the James Bond movie ”Golden Eyes.” It was replaced by the Z4 in 2002.
