San Diego News Network owners announced today the launch of its parent company, U.S. Local News Network, and its expansion plans to 40 U.S. and Canadian cities in the next 30 months.
USLNN’s goal is to create a network of interactive community hubs providing local news, sports, events, lifestyle and entertainment information in key North American markets. The company’s third site, which will go live before the end of the year, will serve Orange County.
The news comes on the heels of the media outlet’s recent launch into Southwest Riverside with SWRNN.com. Additional cities will be announced next month.
“Our success in Southern California has exceeded all internal projections to date, and we feel very confident we can replicate it in other markets where readers are seeking independent coverage of issues surrounding where they live, work and play,” said Neil Senturia, CEO of USLNN. “We feel that our business model is the future for how local news will be reported and consumed, and believe that now is the time to broaden our service across the country.”
USLNN’s executives cite numerous factors that account for the exponential growth in such a short period of time, including:
* A proprietary technology platform that provides readers with a unique, relevant and interactive experience.
* An ability to bring advertisers and readers together in a personalized manner that offers value to both.
* A low overhead structure that affords greater depth and breadth of coverage about the areas where consumers live, work and play.
* Excellent content provided by experienced newsroom teams combined with an extensive list of key media partners, contributing editors and freelance reporters who cover different aspects and perspectives throughout the cities they serve.
“We’re extremely proud of what we’ve been able to achieve in just a short period of time; most of all that consumers can now have other choices for local news,” said Senturia. “We are continuing to add new features every week as we move toward truly providing individuals and families around the country with hyper-local news and information about their community.”

I like the look and feel of SDNN a lot more than that of SignOnSanDiego (which happens to be run by San Diego’s only major newspaper). Keep up the good work!
