San Diego County “stimulus” tracker

President Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is coming into our daily lives in subtle ways. Although, allocations have not been completed, more than $310 million in stimulus funding has entered San Diego County.

To ensure our readers are informed about how the Obama Administration is spending federal money locally, SDNN Politics has launched a “Stimulus Map.” By scrolling through the map, you can see where your tax dollars are being spent — either on transportation, education, housing or health services.

In the next couple of weeks, you’ll see more additions to our “Stimulus Maps.”

The only ones the “stimulus” money is helping is Government bureaucrats. They were on this like a cheap suit and it went to save their fat cat jobs and benefits packages that none of the rest of us get. I have been progressive all my life, but we have to be honest - this is a completely corrupt program.

I disagree with Mr. Gordon. I happen to know that at least some of stimulus money will be made available to health organizations throughout the county and the state who serve people without health insurance.

Citizen K:

I disagree with you.

In Michigan, where I am originally from, they recently stated that of the $5.2 billion in stimulus they have received, there have been 22,000 jobs created as a result. Here’s the link if your want to call me out on that: http://www.mlive.com/michigan-job-search/index.ssf/2009/10/michigans_share_of_the_recovery_act_so_f.html.

Doing the math, that’s $236,000 for each job created or saved. I’m sure California’s (where I now live)results must now be about the same. I don’t see this as an effective use of our tax dollars. I do understand that some of the money helps education, health and other social issues, but just throwing money at something like this is bound to fail and lead to greater problems.

Yes, the Republicans originated the idea, but it was intended to be limited, surgical and tightly watched. The demoral-crate administration of obama is now just dumping out truck loads of our tax dollars on questionable programs and the results are almost negligible. All, at what future cost to all of us?
