Position: Online Advertising Account Executive
Reports to: Sales Manager
DESCRIPTION
Sales superstar wanted. Don’t even call unless you are the best and can prove it. This is in the online media industry, but we hire star performers not backgrounds. If you have the stuff we’ll know it. We prefer that applicants have online media sales experience, but we’ll train someone who has everything we want. Small base, but huge performance awards. Must be awesome at opening doors and getting appointments from cold starts. Must be a highly motivated self starter, terrific presenter and communicator and a barracuda closer. The successful applicant will be joining a passionate and very experienced team of professionals intent on changing the online news/media industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cold call and schedule qualified appointments with decision makers to conduct product demonstrations
- Maintain a minimum closing ratio on a monthly basis.
- Maintain accurate day-to-day record of revenue per period compared to sales budget(s) and report status to manager in weekly meetings.
- Effectively assess new and existing San Diego area business needs and recommend sound advertising solutions to help their business grow and be successful in the San Diego area.
- Maintain up-to-date files on all accounts that are easily understandable and accessible.
- Handle all complaints/customer requests in a timely manner, and inform department manager immediately of errors or potential problem areas.
- Maintain knowledge of market data, competitive activity, current circulation data, advertising rates, pertinent news items and editorial policies.
- Attend and participate in sales meetings and training sessions, and effectively use sales tools provided.
- Maintain a “teamwork” attitude toward all customers and co-workers by communicating clearly to coordinator and other staff; meeting deadlines; exhibiting professional behavior; and assisting when and where possible.
- Maintain knowledge of, and follow, company policies and procedures, including safety, computer and credit policies.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Proven track record of outside sales success.
2. Understanding of basic marketing principles and ability to sell.
3. Ability to generate creative advertising ideas.
4. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
5. Ability to consistently demonstrate confidence in, and enthusiasm toward, product and company.
6. Must be able to handle multiple priorities and meet monthly goals
7. Must have dependable car, automobile insurance, and valid driver’s license.
8. Must be an idea generator capable of working in a nimble start-up company environment.
9. Online advertising and media sales experience is a plus.
