If you’ve never been to Catalina, now is definitely the time.

The island is offering unprecedented deals - including a package that includes boat transportation to and from the island, lodging and  unlimited access to most island activities and tours - for as little as $117 per person, based on double occupancy mid-week, with a two-night minimum stay required.

Guests stay at either the Pavilion Lodge or Hotel Atwater; roundtrip transportation is aboard the Catalina Express or Catalina Flyer from Dana Point, Newport Beach, Long Beach or San Pedro.

And during the stay, you’ll get to play - for free. The package includes glass-bottom boat excursions, undersea tours, wildlife cruises, inland motor tours, Avalon walking tours and behind-the-scenes tours of the island’s historic Casino.

You’ll also get free admission to first-run movies at the Casino, unlimited rounds of golf at the island’s nine-hole course in Avalon Canyon - or unlimited rounds of miniature golf, if that’s your preference.  (Tours offerings along are normally priced between $17 and $80 - each.)

No surprise, prices rise for weekend stays: $175, per person, per night, with the two-night minimum. Free access to tours and activities is on a space-available basis. The package is available through Nov. 1.  Details:  (800) 322-3434,  www.visitCatalinaIsland.com

Thanks for the article Alison. Our website is missing the “i” in Catalina.

Sounds like a great deal until you go to the website. I couldn’t find any packages for less than $500 for the total trip. This might be a bargain but not the great bargain the article implies.
