Padres news has been coming fast and furious since Sunday; here’s a recap for your reading pleasure.

The latest has slugger Adrian Gonzalez showing off his prowess as one of the four power-packed N.L. representatives in the Home Run Derby over All-Star weekend.

He’ll be joined by Ryan Howard of the Phillies, Prince Fielder of the Brewers and St. Louis’ Albert Pujols.  The American League has yet to announce its counter-attack to the slew of slugging first basemen from the senior circuit.

Meanwhile, the Padres followed up Sunday’s Scott Hairston trade with a handful of roster moves before the upcoming road trip to Arizona and San Francicso. Pitcher Ryan Webb, acquired from Oakland in the Hairston trade, will be on the Padres roster for Monday’s game at Arizona, as will reliever Luke Gregerson (0-3, 3.15 ERA in 34.1 IP) who returns from the DL (shoulder injury).

Infielder David Eckstein (.267, 33 RBI, 1 HR) is headed for the 15-day DL after injuring his hamstring late in Sunday’s 13-inning loss to the Dodgers.

Meanwhile Portland right-hander and former Point Loma Nazarene player Mike Eckstrom will step up from Triple-A on the heels of his 1.09 ERA in 41.1 innings of relief work in place of a struggling Joe Thatcher, who is on his way to Portland after posting a 4.58 ERA in 16 Padres outings.

And — in case you missed it — Gonzalez will be joined by closer Heath Bell as the Padres representatives in the All-Star Game.
