A San Diego State University student has won a prestigious

scholarship that will send him on a culinary study adventure in Tuscany.
Martin Sheehan-Stross, an SDSU student from Mountainview, Calif. beat out hundreds of others to win one of seven 2009 Giacomo Bologna Scholarship. The trip was awarded by the Gruppo Ristoratori Italiani and Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi.
Sheehan-Stross will spend seven days touring vineyards and estates in Montalcino and Sienna, shopping at San Lorenzo’s famous market, cooking with famous chefs, cheesemakers and artisanal food producers. He’s enrolled in the Hospitality and Tourism Management, Restaurant Operations Program at San Diego State University. — Maria C. Hunt
