The price of public transport will go up Wednesday, according to the Metropolitan Transit System.
The MTS says the fare hikes are needed to offset the elimination of $14.3 million in local transportation funding from the state.
The price of a monthly transit pass will increase to $72 for adults, $36 for youths and $18 for seniors, the disabled and Medicare passengers, according to MTS.
Cash fares on shuttle routes 951, 871/872 and 904 will increase from $1 to $2.25, and the downtown trolley zone cash fare will increase from $1.25 to $2.50, according to MTS.
The monthly Premium Express commuter bus pass will go from $90 to $100 and a RegionPlus day pass will increase from $11 to $14.
