Teen murder suspect caught in Tijuana

Christopher Anthony Sanchez
It was announced Tuesday that Christopher Anthony Sanchez, a teenager wanted by the San Diego Police Department in connection with a March shooting, has been arrested in Tijuana.
Sanchez allegedly shot and killed 21 year old Marcella Peraza at a birthday party on March 7, 2009. During the shooting Sanchez also shot a Hispanic male, 26, who survived his injuries.
Tijuana police received a tip from Crime Stoppers that Sanchez was living in a dwelling in Tijuana. Task force officers cooperated with Mexican authorities, and he was detained while walking on the street, and was taken into custody by U.S. authorities at about 9 p.m.
The U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of California, George Venables said “these are the results of the outstanding cooperation between Mexican and American law enforcement agencies. Fugitives can no longer flee to Mexico and expect to not get captured.”
