Two new pizzerias open in San Diego

It was a good week for pizza lovers in San Diego with the opening of a couple more places to pick up an authentic slice of New York or Chicago style pizza.
Pizzeria Luigi opened its second location at in North Park last week; a simple space with red and white painted walls and a couple flat screen TVs on the wall. The attraction is their super thin-crust pizza with traditional toppings such as their meatball and ricotta pizza with chunky tomato sauce. Pizzeria Luigi, 2121 El Cajon Blvd. (619)294-9417.
And devotees of Chicago style pizza will want to get to the newest Lefty’s Chicago Pizzeria, which opened in Mission Hills in a spot once occupied by Phil’s Barbecue. The new Lefty’s still serves up Italian beef sandwiches and Chicago style dogs along with a lot more places to sit. Lefty’s Pizza, 4030 Goldfish St. (619)299-4030. –Maria C. Hunt

Finally! Pizzeria Luigi in North Park. Can’t wait to have a couple slices of the Donatello (white pizza) & Mona Lisa.
