A juvenile was detained Saturday in connection with two small brush fires that appeared to have been intentionally set, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The fires scorched about a half-acre of brush around 11 a.m. in a vacant lot near Valencia Street and Bancroft Drive, Sgt. E.J. Dayrit said.

No one was hurt and no structures were damaged, but a juvenile was taken to the Lemon Grove sheriff’s station for questioning, Dayrit said.
