Nice piece Eric. We lived about 6 miles from the 7.2 Loma Prieta earthquake center, and I had the interesting experience of watching our house sway back and forth. Our neighborhood just naturally pulled together to wait out the repairs of the damaged infrastructure. It reminds me of what Jesus said of His return in Matthew 24: "...of that day and hour no one knows...Therefore be on the alert..."

If San Diego has a sizable earthquake right now, you'll have to fend for yourself. The police department is way understaffed and the fire department has been given second rate training. The City of San Diego's elected officials are more worried about pet projects than public safety. The state is broke and the federal government is stretched thin. Help thy neighbor and carry a big stick. Good Luck when the big one hits!!

Don't worry! San Diego County cannot be struck by the type of massive earthquake that generally creates tsumani waves, and the region's sea-floor ridges, canyons and islands would rob an incoming tsunami of its destructive power.
